Amaro di Angostura is a unique Caribbean interpretation of the traditional Italian amaro style, produced by Angostura Limited in Trinidad & Tobago. Introduced in 2014 to mark the company’s 190th anniversary, it is crafted using the brand’s world‑famous aromatic bitters as the foundation, enriched with neutral alcohol, spices, and botanicals. These ingredients are macerated and matured together for about three months, creating a complex and layered flavor profile.

Unlike many Italian amaros, Amaro di Angostura is spicier and more robust, reflecting its Caribbean heritage. It has earned multiple awards, including Gold medals at the Bartender Spirits Awards and The Liqueur Masters, cementing its reputation as a world‑class liqueur. With an ABV of 35%, it offers a versatile drinking experience: it can be enjoyed neat, over ice, or used to add depth to cocktails such as the Trinidad Sour.

Its appearance is a deep reddish‑brown, similar to Angostura Aromatic Bitters. On the nose, it is pungent and herbal, with rooty cola and liquorice notes, complemented by clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, and black pepper spice. The palate is bittersweet, with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel, pronounced cinnamon and clove, caramel sweetness, and honeyed undertones. The finish intensifies with lingering bitterness and spice, making it memorable and distinctive.
