The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky that showcases the distillery’s tradition of craftsmanship with a tropical twist. Matured for 14 years in traditional oak whisky casks, it is then finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. To create the ideal finish, former Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE blended select West Indian rums, seasoned American oak casks with them, and then transferred the whisky in for finishing. Bottled at 43% ABV, this expression combines Balvenie’s honeyed malt character with the warmth and sweetness of rum influence.
Visually, it pours a rich golden amber. On the nose, it offers aromas of toffee, vanilla, and tropical fruit. The palate is smooth and mouth‑coating, with notes of honey, caramel, ripe fruit, and subtle spice. The finish is warm and lingering, with balanced sweetness and oak.
Its character makes it versatile. The Caribbean Cask is excellent neat, allowing the rum cask influence to shine, but it also works beautifully with a splash of water to open up fruit notes.
